A Small-Town Girl’s Big Leap: The Smriti Khanna Story
“From Lucknow to the television screen : My Journey as an Actor
Growing up in Lucknow, I was always fascinated by the magic of Indian movies, dance, and drama. The sparkle in my eyes was unmistakable whenever I watched a film or performed on stage. Even as a four-year-old, I knew what I wanted to be – an actress. When my teacher asked our class about our career aspirations, I proudly declared my dream. Though my classmates laughed, I didn’t let that deter me.
However, as I grew older, reality set in. Being the only child, my parents were hesitant to let me pursue a career in acting, especially in Mumbai. I reluctantly put my dreams on hold and focused on my studies.
Despite the uncertainty of my future in acting, I remained committed to my craft, participating in school dramas and cultural events to keep my creative spark alive.
But fate had other plans. One day, I received a call to audition for Zee TV’s new show, which was being cast in Lucknow too apart from other cities.I decided to take a chance and gave it a shot. To my surprise, I got selected for the role of Durga, the third daughter, in ‘Ghar Ki Laxmi Betiyann.’ This was my breakthrough moment, and I haven’t looked back since.
Throughout my journey, I’ve learned that hard work, perseverance, and faith are essential to achieving one’s goals. I want to inspire others to chase their dreams, no matter how impossible they may seem.
In conclusion, my journey from Lucknow to the television screen has been a dream come true. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and look forward to many more exciting projects in the future.”
